...for all of you that believe Christmas is all about Jesus, you must educate yourselves on the Pagan holiday, "Yule"....it existed waaaaaay before the biblical times of Jesus.
The date varies from December 20 to December 23 depending on the year in the Gregorian calendar. Yule is also known as the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere and the summer solstice in the southern hemisphere due to the seasonal differences.
Symbolism of Yule:
Rebirth of the Sun, The longest night of the year, The Winter Solstice, Introspect, Planning for the Future.
Symbols of Yule:
Yule log, or small Yule log with 3 candles, evergreen boughs or wreaths, holly, mistletoe hung in doorways, gold pillar candles, baskets of clove studded fruit, a simmering pot of wassail, poinsettias, christmas cactus.
Herbs of Yule:
Bayberry, blessed thistle, evergreen, frankincense holly, laurel, mistletoe, oak, pine, sage, yellow cedar.
Foods of Yule:
Cookies and caraway cakes soaked in cider, fruits, nuts, pork dishes, turkey, eggnog, ginger tea, spiced cider, wassail, or lamb's wool (ale, sugar, nutmeg, roasted apples).
Incense of Yule:
Pine, cedar, bayberry, cinnamon.
Colors of Yule:
Red, green, gold, white, silver, yellow, orange.
Stones of Yule:
Rubies, bloodstones, garnets, emeralds, diamonds.
Activities of Yule:
Caroling, wassailing the trees, burning the Yule log, decorating the Yule tree, exchanging of presents, kissing under the mistletoe, honoring Kriss Kringle the Germanic Pagan God of Yule.
...summary: Christians plagiarized the Pagan holiday....case closed!
Hoppy hollowdaze-You poor little unenlightened pagan...still stuck in the dark ages lol.

So the reason religies are disconnected from reality is because they expect deliverance at the last minute of the last hour of the last day. Parcel logistics is responsible for the fundie fantasies - who knew?

...so you swiped the pagan holiday, yuletide....December 25 is far from the biblical character Jesus' birthday....according to the book, that camel jockey was born during a whole different part of the year, but Christians wanted to celebrate it, and since society already had this great holiday yuletide that everyone celebrated, you Christians swiped it and say it's the birth of Jesus. Your faith is so twisted, Christians don't care what the bible says, you all do what your strange little minds tell you to do and say it's in the bible....LOL

....I mean, the first person to write about jesus was a man by the name of Josephus. Josephus 1st wrote about jesus about 100 years after this jesus was dead...all the jesus stories were passed down from generation to generation, VERBALLY....so, the jesus character is hearsay at the MOST! Why didn't anyone write about him while he was actually alive?...there were people writing back then, why didn't he make the news at the time?

...my psychology professor in college performed an experiment in class one day to show how fast information gets twisted from one person to another, when a story is verbally handed down....he didn't tell us what he was doing, he just bent over and whispered to the pupil in the front row of the class, he then told him to whisper what he told the student to the student next them him, then spread the message to the student next to them, pass it until the last student....by the time the last student got the story and he announced the story to the class, it was so far from the original story that I didn't even recognize tale.

...I hate to tell you Christians, and I know you don't want to hear it, but your living a lie...you've been con'd into your faith.....suck it up boot lickers, you deserve it.

Nicely presented!
May I add.....
Red and green = the colors of Life (animal and vegetative).
Gold, yellow and orange = the Sun.
White and silver = the Stars (of which our Sun is one).
It's all about the Light at Yuletime.
The days were getting shorter and the cold, dark nights must have frightened primitive peoples greatly. The fact that after a certain "long night" the daylight hours began to increase must have been cause for great celebration.
"Yeah! We aren't going to freeze and starve to death in the Dark! The Light returns!"
And so began the myths......
May I add, the people who celebrated the yule time, were known as "heathens", and it was not a derogatory word.
Obviously it became a derogatory word due to disputes between the Christians and the Nordic people who did not denounce their gods.

You worship a different god, yet use all the symbols of the heathens to celebrate the birth of your god. We are simply showing how religion is evolved from other religions.

I guess it is hard to jettison the dark age stuff, as so many follow the superstations of the era.
This week was full of them. Did you put up traditional yule decorations?

Naaaah , I don't believe that you hate repeating your lies and deceitful information to Christians or the poor unsuspecting victims that your type loves to prey on.
To those who unsuspectingly fall for your deceitful tactics , look what awaits them , deep depression , suicidal tendencies , loneliness , apart from the families and friends they deserted and now left alone to fend for themselves.
With no one to help , they turn to drugs and alcohol in order to alleviate the pain and anguish you have caused them with your unproven and fabricated gibberish.
When one of your Atheist leaders brings this problem to your attention , you disregard it and continue on your path of mayhem and destruction as permitted by your nonmoral standards..
One is left to wonder what type of sadistic mind enjoys inflicting such pain on their fellow human beings?
It is small wonder that April 1st is your National Holiday , a day for which you have nothing to celebrate .
It is because of people like your college professor that April !st is celebrated in order to honor fools ,past , present and those to come in the future Useless deceivers
You all have been regurgitating the same poison for many years on this thread.
Spent endless hours concocting nonsense , your futile efforts have not deconverted anyone.
Useless deceivers ,looking to add members to a baseless faith and only succeed in adding to the number of suicides and the population of the mentally ill.
Good riddance to bad rubbish

Nicely put.

Christians will often cite Josephus as evidence that Jesus existed.

Of course, Josephus mentions Hercules more often than Jesus, so that means Hercules also existed.

Christianity is little more than Judaism spiced with paganism.

They believe there is no God or Gods. No evidence

In essence ,what you have is a belief that a mindless process, unguided ,nonintelligent, nonliving and nonconscious is responsible for all of creation., That given time ,all these things can occur.

TIME does not create anything, From no thing can something be created.

Mats Moen
According to Julian Huxley (arguably one of the most prominent evolutionists of the last century) at least one million positive mutations were required for the modern horse to evolve. He believed that there is a maximum of one positive mutation in a total of 1,000 mutations. With the help of these values Huxley calculated the probability for the horse to have evolved from one single unicellular organism was 1 in 103,000,000. He believed, however, that natural selection would be able to solve this problem.26 But this faith did not help him in the end, and will not help any other evolutionist either, as this calculation is based on the origin of positive mutations, even before natural selection would start to work. If all electrons in the universe (about 1080) would have participated in 1012 reactions every second, during the 30 billion years which evolutionists have put as the upper age limit of the universe, there would still not have been more than c. 10110 possibly interactions—still a long way from the Huxley calculation.1
