Ok, the only thing I havent seen on this site is how to fix the problem. Are there specific issues that can be resolved, list them on here before it's to late. Is there a proxy issue, a materials issue, a press issue? Let's spell it out. What would you want your plant to run like. Oh by the way I say a maintence guy with a broom sweeping, way to go everyone who saw it was impressed........Thank You whoever you are.

Comment to UNEDUCATED, We have our good and bad in the maintenance dept, but before you start throwing rocks you better cover up the windows in the assembly house. I know assembly has some good ones, but they have a lot of bad ones. Your screaming and ranting comments just show that you probably want to be in maintenance, but got turned down. By the way, Dana in E=town is union, I guess they must be working at full force right.

Operators are so ignort and can't stand up for themselves and want a union. You could teach an uneducated, blind, and diabled monkey to load parts. By the way you union loving people. With or with out a union maintence is still going to have better pay and a better job. They should fire all the union loving morons that work there (rossi)

uneducated if you have the balls to throw someone elses name out be man enough to post yours. It doesn't really matter though we all know who you are. you love duke and vanderbilt and YOU are the laziest operator in the plant. If you were working so hard you wouldn't be so damn fat. Next time you go for one of your thirty minute trips to the restroom to sit in a stall and talk on your cell phone watch your back. You might get told on like you love to do so often.

My husband works in maintenace and I was wondering why they didn't give the operators the 500 dollor check like they did all the maintenace guys when the union didn't come in.

I never said bgm needed the uaw. With the past managers we've had we did need uaw. Now we are headed in the right direction just like I said. But im on 415 and we still need some changes within our leadership. We have been trying to get this line running for too long and its not working out.

Juergen cut maintenance and tooling because all of the operators on third shift were already gone and for this reason we were over staffed in these departments. The only reason they waited so long to cut these departments after laying off operators is that it is hard to find people with the skill set that they require in this area and they were hoping something would turn around. I found out about this forum yesterday and I can't believe that I work with people who harbor such ill will toward their fellow workers and speak out with such malice against one another. If any of you who are complaining have any constructive criticism you should try the suggestion box or management I know that this fell on deaf ears a lot in the past but Juergen seems to genuinely care about the company and the people here and for the first time in a long time I feel the company is moving in the correct direction again. When you get in here on the forums bashing people and the company it reflects poorly on all of us instead of venting on here you should talk to the people who can effect change such as the steering team or get in on the EOS or fairness committee we even have an employee advocate who could help steer you in the right direction. Several people here on this forum seem to be bashing maintenance but like them or not they are an essential part of the day to day operation of this plant the same as operators management and engineering and quality. If we are to survive in this tough automotive market then we all have to quit being petty put our differences aside and come together as a team. I have read several comments on here that said if maintenance is so good we would not have the same problems for four years well trust me there is nothing I would love better than to have the lines run without a catch but it is not as easy as that any line improvement suggestions have to go through engineering and management before we can even think of getting time and recourses allocated to do projects honestly most of the changes to the line are set fourth by people who have never really been on the line and just like you maintenance has to do what they are told. I have used my real name on here because my views are my own just as you have yours and if we cant freely discuss our ideas with respect maybe some need to reevaluate and try a more open minded perspective I don't want to hide behind an alias and if any of you want to discuss this further in a civil manner feel free to talk to me at any time. Oh and to set the record straight I don't know who Jane is but she has apparently been misinformed because there were no 500 dollar checks given to maintenance I am shure Jane is a union supporter trying to blemish the unified stand we made to tell the union thanks but nothanks both operators and maintenance made a stand aginst giving our paychecks to another group of bureaucrats that want to line their own pockets politicans do that already.

I think its already started for many operators. held accountable for their pathetic welding in enhancement stations. your names are now tied to the frame. when a missed weld hits an oem they can trace the jsn right back to you!!!

If anyone on here thinks their not replaceable they are nuts. operators can be replaced with anyone. sorry to break this to you but operators are lined up outside the door. an operator can be trained in as little as a few hours. Maintenance are a little harder. But just as replaceable. Oh by the way there are temporary companies that handle maintenance guys too. Projectech for example. not to mention every time wwt or other companies are contracted in you get closer to the door.

Biggest problem is bg metalforming has never been able to manage maintenance. maintenance is forced to stand next to the line with their finger in their ass rather than be involved in legitimate projects. When operators see maintenance standing around its because they are forced to stand in one place rather than make a difference. its pathetic. believe it or not there are tremendous amounts of talent absolutely being wasted. The vast majority hate the handcuffs management has put on them. Now remember that I say they are forced to stand So you ask why not force them to break down bins, change every weld burn back, push the auto button that the operator forgot and change the diaper of uneducated. its simple everyone has their limits. A guy is asked to give up every break to pamper operators they eventually will revolt. Management has given them that small amount of pride.

I agree with both of you we are headed in the right direction. Anyone who does their job at BGM would probably agree that the things Juergen is doing is what needs to be done. Hate it or love it you gotta give it a shot, we dont have many other choices. Not alot of places are hiring anyone skilled or unskilled.

UNEDUCATED

make this very clear.

You called people out by name. you made very specific accusations. You where damn wrong for the finger pointing you have done. If your intentions are to improve your workplace you are failing.

I would be surprised if after your comments anyone could place any respect or belief in you. Remember the ass you chew today could be the ass you kiss tomorrow.

Now haveing said that i suggest you slide off the high horse and take a serious look around. clean your house then point fingers at the others.

Our Maintenance People are made of GOLD!!!!!Is everyone on here who's commenting in a lower paying job and just Jealous? Seems that's what it is. We work hard while the rest of you do better at complaining. Maybe you all can apply for a new job at the local McDonalds and flip those Hamburgers, might relieve the stress. We'd do better without you,Wish I was the Chief, you'd be unemployeed. Now you have something to talk about.
I think that the problem is,while yes we do make less it seems liked we always have someone riding our collective asses while you guys seem to have a lot of free time throughout the day.you can walk around anywhere in the plant at any time and you have to admit some days you guys spend a lot of time just waiting for something to tear up.meanwhile you guys can roam and talk and chill out a little. when we have a half second of down timethere's always some butthead chewin us out about5-s or staying busy, stocking, sweeping, chipping slag, that kind of crap. it gets old when your not only the lowest paid and least respected group there but also the only ones who seem to constantly have to stay busy. It can be rough sometimes and it doesn't raelly seem fair to us.As for your comment about bieng in charge and firing everyone, stop bieng a dick and try looking at things from someone else's perspective.

I was laid off on Oct. 3rd and I find it odd that most people in this forum appear to still have jobs. Not one person seems concerned for the 60+ people that are now struggling to pay their mortgages or feed their families. Good AND bad workers lost their jobs that day. Everyone knows someone in every department that doesn't pull his or her weight. Some of those people are still there making a good living. I completely agree that some jobs needed to be cut for the company to survive, but whoever said that the only jobs cut were not needed anyway is completely misinformed. I wish you all the best of luck. I loved BGM and a lot of the people there. Skilled, unskilled, educated or whatever are going to struggle to find a job making the same money or having anywhere near the same benefits. Take a minute to think about that. It could have been any of you sitting where I am now - unemployed and scared of losing everything. I worked hard when I was at BGM and what good did it do me? I don't blame Juergen. I truly believe he knows what is best for the company. He gave numbers to the department leaders and it was up to them to choose who left and who stayed. I believe some bad decisions were made on that Black Friday. Just do me a favor and everybody, regardless of their department, work hard at trying to fix BGM's problems, so there aren't 800 more people standing in the unemployment line with me.

I couldn't agree with "Jobless" more. Everyone working there and complaining should be happy they have a job to bitch about. The automotive industry has been so up and down lately that everyone that is still employed at BGM is very lucky. We all have things about our jobs we dislike, but just be happy you have a job. I'm sure there are 100's of guys/girls that would trade places with you in a heartbeat.
