I am proud to offer excellent and prompt service. We are rarely ever over what we quote, and often will estimate a worst-case-scenario price, given the particular job. This way, we usually actually complete work UNDER our quote. For the product brought in, we charge 85.00. It is possible they made calls to numerous firms, and possibly got them mixed up. We reinstalled the lock at NO charge just so we could be sure everything worked fine. If I have the situation correctly, the client was upset that another firm replaced their ignition, and did not match it to their existing key, so there was already dissatisfaction in the situation. I can not just charge what someone WANTS the price to be, and we will be more careful to discuss the price BEFORE doing any work, just to be SURE there is no miscommunication. We do this on service calls, special orders.. perhaps even walk-in bench work should not be started BEFORE expressly quoting the price.
We called City Lock twice to get a quote to re-key an auto lock cylinder. Both times we were quoted $65. Today we went to City Lock and brought the cylinder with us for re-keying. When we were rung up we were told it would be $85. When we challenged Jeff about the two quotes of $65 he denied ever saying it and said his price was $85 period. This was for less than 1 hours work. This guy is pretty proud of what he does at $85 an hour.
