Risks of opioids for arthritis outweigh benefits

More crappola from our friends who probably never experienced pain from arthritis but who can suggest that some constpiation doesn't outweigh the benefit of opiods to relive pain.

I would like to smash their fingers, really hard, and then tell them that you're better off taking the pain, we wouldn't want you to get constipated althouh I think they're already there

That article is such a crock of shit it's scary. It's like some doctor was smoking crack and just wrote down his thoughts.

I agree these Dr's are writing a fraudulent report! It is more "work" in these paranoid times, to prescribe narcotics, but it can be done, and done effectively. Rheumatologists have been the most Sadistic of all specialty groups in the way they treat pain. I have been on effective dose for past 10 yrs. I have never abused my script!

I would also like to see these doctors punished with the type of undue suffering they impose on others! They are prescribing for their own comfort. This study was strictly politics as usual. Coming on the heels of "Michael Jackson" hysteria. I am furious at these doctors. They have no respect for their patients, who are geriatrics. Torturing Senior Citizens, instead of respecting them. How many more will suicide because of these jerks who think they know best?

I wish I were young & energetic & I would lead a demonstration of patients to boycott & highlight the abuse of elderly. These doctors are abusing the elderly by denying them appropriate pain medication. I would not use their research paper for powder room tissue! The days of people accepting every research paper written for greed & other nefarious schemes is over. Patients have gotten too smart and informed.
To Texan1 & NJVike -- I salute your honesty and bravery for coming out in this storm of paranoia. chronic pain paients, will sadly, have to start banding together again, to get these vermin "doctors" out of our lives & medicine cabinets!

Sorry to hear about your pain. Fortunately, my Dad's doctor has prescribed him Fentanyl which seems to help him everyday. They do, however, want him to take a huron test to ensure he's using the patch. I can understand that and I thank the Doctor for providing him with this helpful medication.

I on the other hand have new symptoms. I still have pain on the one hip and feel a tingling sensation on the other side. My new orthopedic surgeon thinks it might be a nerve so I'm getting an EMG performed this week.

I did inform my new orthopedic that the 10/325 isn't cutting it for me any longer so her prescribed something called Gabapentin which doesn't seem to work either.

I wish there was a doctor out there in my area that would not only bump up the dosage so I don't feel the pain anymore but also find the root cause of my pain. This is getting tiring for me.

Gabapentin is the chemical name for neurotin . this drug is actually an anticonvulsant with an unlabeled use for chronic pain. It's one of thoe hit or miss things . For some , it's a wonderdrug. For others it doesnt do anyhting for the pain and for another group of people it throws them into pychosis. IMO if isnt isnt helping with the pain .... get off it as soon as possible.

I'm glad it's working for you. I wish I could provide them to you since they do absolutley nothing for me. All I'm going to do is dispose of them. What a waste of money. I wish they wouldn't have provided so many of them without taking a few first to see if they work.
