Switzerland campaign to ban minarets gathers force

Full story: Telegraph.co.uk

Switzerland's "stop minaret" movement is backed by the powerful ultra-conservative Swiss People's Party, which was re-elected in 2007 after mounting an anti-foreigner campaign that was denounced by the United Nations as racist, the Independent reports.

"... Ulrich Schüler, an SVP parliamentarian and leading member of the anti-minaret movement, said minarets were political rather than religious.

'They are symbols of a desire for power, of an Islam which wants to establish a legal and social order fundamentally contrary to the liberties guaranteed in our constitution,' he told the paper."

At least someone in Europe is seeing the "religion of peace" for what it really is.

Took long enough.

I agree with his statement, it is about power.

and that scary voice at the crack of dawn is enough to scare normal people from a nice sleep into a scary nightmare.

Does anyone know what they holler out from those minarets? It will crack you up!

My question is .. WHY?

Saudi Arabia wont allow any other religion in their country ..

If people dont want a certain thing in their community .. they should be able to voice their opinions on all matters that they disagree on.

Go Switzerland! Do whatever you have to do to preserve Switzerland for the Swiss, not a bunch of heathen death-cult, moon-god worshipers.

All the non-Islamic world is becoming sick and angry about the Muslim behaviour in their countries.
it was a great mistake we gave room for these useless, unproductive people, who are a headache to all those countries, who accomodated them.

YES... and there are numerous Muslim countries that will not tolerate building of Churches and proselytism of other faiths. What implications should that be for Muslims outside of these countries??
