Russia has every right to protect its citizens.

This is the Kosovo precedent the US wanted.

There were no Canadian/US/German/Nato citizens of Kosovo.

Put the double standards back on the US.

"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" they say.

The US figured Russia would roll over because Georgia had big bad Nato's blessing.

They are Russian citizens, thats fine. Than move to Russia. They live in Georgia, if they no longer want to live in Georgia than cross the border. Georgia is a legal state, it is not a part of imperial Russia.

Russia went to the UN when Georgia started this for a cessation of hostilities.

Too late, they tried the diplomatic route. And they saw US "standards" in Serbia.

Kosovo/Serbia was NATO primarily the UNITED STATES, DICTATING borders within a sovereign state. An OUTSIDE FORCE. And there were NO citizens of theirs there.

Russia has MORE MORAL AUTHORITY to preserve and protect IT"S OWN citizens than the US had in Kosovo. Now the US wants "territorial integrity" preserved.

Georgia tried to preserve it's "integrity" by launching an assault.

And for your information Alex, the supreme court of Russia has and is reviewing DOCUMENTATION that says that South Ossetia is a part of the Russian Federation. Russia played the more diplomatic route of talks with Georgia to settle this dispute, and the "independance" of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Georgia preferred force.

Now they will get what they want.

And no amount of squawking by you or any US official will change any of it.

Now Saakashvilli wants a "cease fire".

Guess his "friends" haven't engaged the Russian "aggressors". Because they expected Russia to cower at the "almighty" firepower of Nato.

Georgia did not kill Russian citizens. They handed the citizens of S.O Russian citizenship, then had the nerve to claim S.O citizen as Russian nationals. This war was started many years before when Russia supported the fake government of S.O.
See S.O has always been part of Georgia. Only in 1990s did S.O want to split away from Georgia.
