Arroyo gets flak for appointing Norberto Gonzales as DND chief

Full story: www.gmanews.tv

Jeers greeted Malacañang for its decision to replace Gilberto Teodoro Jr. with Norberto Gonzales Jr. as head of the Department of National Defense. "With the appointment of (the) much-hated national security adviser...Gloria Arroyo has just brought Adolf Hitler back to life," Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) executive vice president Lito Ustarez said in a statement sent to media on Saturday. The leftist labor group claimed that Gonzales' alleged "crimes to the people should land him in jail, not in any government post." "He is one of the worst Filipinos for the job of a Defense secretary. We are concerned that his appointment will signal another escalation of extra-judicial killings enforced disappearances and all-out militarization in the country, especially in Mindanao," the group said.

That posted photo came from VOA News.

Back to the story, here's Panfilo Lacson's comment on Norberto Gonzales:

“Para sa akin di wise decision 'yan. Kasi kung ako may bahagi sa pagpili di ko piliin si Norberto Gonzales. Kung natatandaan mo ang investigation sa Venable sa halip na harapin niya ang issue kumain ng saging tapos diretso sa hospital," he said in an interview on dwIZ radio.

(For me it is not a wise decision. When he was being investigated in the Senate he merely ate a banana and was rushed to the hospital.)

Gonzales’ appointment revives ‘no-el’ fears

"Such a wide difference between the opposition and administration candidates will be hard to remedy even with massive cheating in the elections, the CPP said.

"'Thus, the lame duck regime is now more determinedly putting in place a ‘failure of elections and transition government scenario’ which the new defense secretary has long been blatantly pushing,' it added.

"Earlier this year, Gonzales proposed a council-led transition government where a council headed by the chief justice would run the government and oversee the drafting of a new Constitution before the May 2010 elections.

"The CPP noted that Malacañang, which merely distanced itself from Gonzales’ proposal, never tried to totally discount such a scenario."

NOTE THIS ONE:

"The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) on Sunday said Gonzales’ appointment is 'strategic' as the administration’s candidate is not doing well in recent presidential surveys."

SO, COULD NORBERTO GONZALES BE THE ANSWER -
"to ensure the perpetuation in power of the ruling regime in the likelihood of its failure to convincingly bag the 2010 elections"?

Why put this guy if the administration is interested in solving the human rights problems of the country? Unless they are planning something that they need his talent that no body in the entire country is capable of doing?

Do you really think that Sen. Lacson is a loser? Or the other way around?

Yes, you can't please everybody but you should try your best to please the majority of the people and not only your friends.

We must all be prepared especially Filipinos here in PI. It was him, Norberto Gonzales, proposed a revolutionary gov't before 2010 elections...
Biazon, former chief military, even recommend to fire Gonzales for stating that revolutionary gov't.
Gordon also wants to investigate series of bombings.
Citizens should be more vigilant and be very careful if ever they would create chaos before the 2010 election, that's not impossible in order to stay in power.

Gloria Arroyo, Can appoint anybody she want. After all she's the one in power! And of course if she want to appoint any crooks in government she can. And there is nobody can do about it.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
