HOW rapidly did Equatorial Guinea's GDP grow between 1975 and 1999? According to the latest version of the Penn World Table , the most comprehensive source of figures about countries' GDP since 1950, the answer is 4% a year.

Measuring GDP together with the amount of light a country emits in space is very clever, although there are a few problems with the link. Here is a great article about how the connection between GDP and light emitted isn't foolproof: http://www.mindreign.com/en/mindshare/Global-...
