(Hi PBM), i agree that a woman should be as responsible as possible, i believe that God imparted the very special quality of "creator" to men and women who can create life, and we should be careful not to abuse that. I believe that a woman ultimately has the choice. But just as someone who drinks alcohol and drives has the choice. with every choice there comes a consequence, and one should carefully consider those things and how they will affect the rest of one's life.
My daughter is adopted from china. because of the one child only policy, I know that many women there have abortions or else they will lose their jobs and livelihood, if they bear another child. others go through with the pregnancy and then secretly abandon their sweet daughters (as they prefer a son). these women live their lives with that emptiness that never goes away, "like broken bones that never heal" wrote one chinese author. I can imagine either way it is a difficult thing to do and my heart goes out to women in either of these situations. I will leave the judging of abortions up to God, it's his job, and he knows what's in the heart of the suffere. i consider my beautiful daughter to be a gift from God and from a lovely chinese mother whom i will never have the chance to thank. hopefully, in the next ilife? |

Are you a Mormon? The reason that I'm asking is because a friend ( white girl from one of my classes) of mine recently told me that she and her siblings were adopted by a couple who had one child of their own, but decided to adopt the rest of their family...they are devout Mormons. My friend, of course, is devout as well as her parents and our religious differences have never posed a problem in our friendship and she enjoys being in the company of the group of us Muslim girls here. We never talk about religion, but when she was braiding my hair (I have long hair below my waist, I never cut it) with the other girls she shared her feelings about her love for her adoptive parents and their honesty about her biological parents. I was very touched by her choice of words. She referred to her parents as being "sent by God." Your daughter is very lucky to have a loving mother such as yourself. I heard about the "one child" policy in China from a professor who is also a medical doctor. He said that many babies born to couples who already had a child were actually killed by injecting a saline solution into the undeveloped cranium. He also said that they had a special employee to bury these babies. I think that was in the 80's when he was living and practicing in China. Personally, I plan on giving my future husband many sons and I know in my heart of hearts that I will love and cherish each and every one of them. |

yes, i have heard about the many horrible things that have happened in china, although i hold the government responsible for the deaths of these infants and not the mothers. I heard that there were factories where they would monitor the woman's period to make sure that she wasn't pregnant, or that they would force them to take the Pill. How dreadfully sad for those ppl. and yes, i am a devout mormon. i usually don't get into it here cuz i know there is a mormon forum. i was never raised in my church to study about other religions and what makes them right or wrong, because that isn't as important as the example you set for others as a manifestation of your faith. so i was never good at debating religion.i'm here to learn what i can about islam. i do respect islam for it has many parallel practices/beliefs as ours: modesty, chastity, tithing, fasting, prayer, moderation, no alcohol, tea, smoking. the body is as a temple, keep it clean and pure. etc. Nice to hear from you Muslimah, and I hope you find a good man. and sons are wonderful (i have one too) but daughters bring a special sweetness into your life. |

"If access to contraceptives was widely and freely available, abortion wouldn't be necessary," said an official at a Western family planning organization in Yemen. She spoke on condition of anonymity for fear her organization would be targeted. Abortion, she said, is "a last resort."
hmmm... now lets see what islam has to say on the subject, shall we? Sura 24:2 YUSUFALI: The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. PICKTHAL: The adulterer and the adulteress, scourge ye each one of them (with) a hundred stripes. And let not pity for the twain withhold you from obedience to Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of believers witness their punishment. SHAKIR:(As for) the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them,(giving) a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement. i wonder if then you get to have condoms... you know, after the flogging? allah must approve of abortions, since his system seems to encourage it |

what does allahs boyfriend, the prophet have to say about adultery?
Bukhari (6:60:79)- Two people guilty of "illegal intercourse" are brought to Muhammad, who commands that they both be stoned. Apparently their act was out of love, however, since the verse records the man as trying to shield the woman from the stones. Bukhari (83:37)- Adultery is one of three justifications for killing a person, according to Muhammad. Muslim (17:4196)- A married man confesses that he has adultery (four times, as required). Muhammad orders him planted in the ground and pelted with stones. According to the passage, the first several stones caused such pain that he tried to escape and was dragged back. Muslim (17:4206)- A woman who became pregnant confesses to Muhammad that she is guilty of adultery. Muhammad allows her to have the child, then has her stoned (the description is graphic). Muslim (17:4209)- A woman confesses adultery and is stoned to death on Muhammad's order. Ibn Ishaq (970)- "The adulterer must be stoned." These words were a part of Muhammad's farewell address to his people on the occasion of his final pilgrimage to Mecca. hmmm... not exactly material for an ad campaign about safe sex, i'd say islam = abortions all around! woo hoo! |

according to islam, you would be allowed to have your child born and weaned, before you were put to death, is not allah all merciful? Muslim 17:4206 He (the narrator) said: There came to him (the Holy Prophet) a woman from Ghamid and said: Allah's Messenger, I have committed adultery, so purify me. He (the Holy Prophet) turned her away. On the following day she said: Allah's Messenger, Why do you turn me away? Perhaps, you turn me away as you turned away Ma'iz. By Allah, I have become pregnant. He said: Well, if you insist upon it, then go away until you give birth to (the child). When she was delivered she came with the child (wrapped) in a rag and said: Here is the child whom I have given birth to. He said: Go away and suckle him until you wean him. When she had weaned him, she came to him (the Holy Prophet) with the child who was holding a piece of bread in his hand. She said: Allah's Apostle, here is he as I have weaned him and he eats food. He (the Holy Prophet) entrusted the child to one of the Muslims and then pronounced punishment. And she was put in a ditch up to her chest and he commanded people and they stoned her. Khalid b Walid came forward with a stone which he flung at her head and there spurted blood on the face of Khalid and so he abused her. Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) heard his (Khalid's) curse that he had huried upon her. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Khalid, be gentle. By Him in Whose Hand is my life, she has made such a repentance that even if a wrongful tax-collector were to repent, he would have been forgiven. Then giving command regarding her, he prayed over her and she was buried. so, you have that going for you at least... congratulations on your choice |
I agree that the communist Chinese government is responsible for the horrible things that happened to these women and babies in China. Man's inhumanity toward man! I figured that you may be Mormon by your ISP address, but when you mentioned that you adopted a child I realized that you must be Mormon by what my Mormon friend was telling me. I never knew much about the Mormons, but what I'm learning about the Church I truly respect. It's nice to be able to write a civil posting to a nice person, and it's nice to hear from you as well. I'm corresponding with a Pakistani boy at present who has won my heart, and he and his parents have been corresponding with my father about future plans after we both finish school. We usually do the webcam corresponding now, and when my parents recently visited me, my dad spoke to him for a very long time and I could tell my dad really liked him and his father. They even prayed together. It was very nice posting to you and may God bless you and your family. |

Your comment doesn't apply to me...I would never have a child by a man who wasn't my husband. I'm not an adultress! |

yes, of course an idiot wouldnt realise that honor killings occur right here in the good ol' u.s. of a. say, wait a min... thats you! you're the idiot, as it turns out. |
it's funny, but everyone assumes i'm mormon because of my location. not everyone here is mormon. it's like saying everyone in new york is jewish... a lot of them are but not everybody. and i'm really not from orem, but it says i am... oh well. and in the capital city, where i live, only 40% of the ppl are mormons. and we have a very high influx of foreigners, refugees, etc., so it's an interesting city, and it's a beautiful state. anyway, good luck with the paki boy. just be sure he's not working you for a green card... LOL.. seriously, if you think he's the one i hope it works out for you. will you make sure for me that he is educated??? i had a whole family of pakistanis and they were all boys, and all were some of the nicest boys i've had in my classes- very handsome too. i still visit their restaurant once in awhile and see how they are all doing. ok dear, good luck with everything, thanks for being kind, and i also enjoy our communication and the few good discussions we can have here since so many of these forums get ugly... peace, sister. |
