The torch relay in a lot of things, I thank you Westerners. Olympic Games the most important thing now is not happy, is safety. Chinese people can become a great nation, we do not want to. As long as we happy prosperity, not war, and more freedom on the line. |
30000 reporters are now in Beijing getting ready to cover the Olympics. This is the largest gathering of reporters in the history of the world. If this is not press freedom, what is it? Find me another event that has more reporters covering. Not during the Cuban missile crisis, not in a US presidential election, not in any prior Olympics, and not in any summits of world leaders, there is no precedent. Additionally there are 90 heads of states, and hundreds of multinational CEOs, and 600 security guards for George W Bush. Only the world's greatest nation can put a great party like this together. The whole world wants to come to the party and help China cerebrate. Of course some bad elements want to crash the party. They should be excluded. No doubt, out of the 30000 reporters, there will be some China bashers managed to sneak in. If there is one empty seat in the stadium, they will enjoy the freedom to report on it as something negative. The Chinese people now finally get to know how bias the western media can be. |

Maybe you should let them actually do some reporting before you start criticizing them for its being biased. Already preparing excuses, are we? It's an admission that kind of makes your boasts a bit hollow, don't you think? |

Its already a great nation, its been a great nation for the past 5000 years. |

Look, to be ALL TOTALLY fair and honest here.
My view on the media in China is that it IS a bit tight and controlled. However as with everything, there is two sides to a coin, and there are good and bad aspects of this control. Currently the media is too reigned in in China, and the downsides is of course corruption where corrupt officials are not exposed. Thats the finest element of a totally free press. Other downsides are of course social issues etc. voice for the people. Upside is that the media can be a form of stability for the country. Especially from an economics point of view (and that is the major reason I suspect the communist gov. keeps the media controlled). In the current climate, where growth is first and foremost, a free and unbridaled press will undoubtedly bring an element of instability. I dont know how, or in what form, but thats for sure. In the future, gradually I hope the government will let up on the media and give them more freedom |

Lies and propaganda are NOT prerequisites for stability and growth.
They ARE prerequisites for tyranny, corruption, and war. |

US must've mastered that art, consider the current war. |
Oh here we go again, the clowns have entered! Another balanced and fair criticism from Miro. How sweet. |

1 That's an excellent example of what I'm trying to say: Without the lies, the war would not have been possible. Without the lies, the tyranny is impossible. It is globally acknowledged as a degeneration of the US system under Bush. But why does China have to exist in a constant state of degeneracy? |

1 It will be greater, more humane, and more respected if the CCP allows others to run and be part of the country. CCP track record sucks! If communism is a discredited joke throughout the world, why keep the name the Chinese Communist Party? Why perpetuate such a ridiculous myth and joke? Hmmmmm... maybe the truth is too humiliating for old men in the politburo? |

1 Well I dont know...but from what I see, every aspect of China has advanced in the past 30 years, from freedom, to economy, to religion, to society. A lot of it attributed to the policies of the CCP. I mean, ANY old fool can see that. The olympics in 3 weeks, with half of the world's leaders attending, its a testament to that. Would the Olympics even BE in China, if it was going backwards? Would leaders be attending to pay tribute to China's achievements if it hasn't achieved? I mean seriously, any retard with half a brain can see that, yet after I wrecked you guys with superior logic, I come back and here you are again, haunting the forum with your doomsladen messages of "Chinas going down the drain". Please explain? |
|
Attributable to the RETREAT of the CCP, not its policies. Continue the rout, and China will blossom! You "wrecked" only your own credibility! Ha Ha Ha! |

Hong Kong reporter attacks policeman on duty 2008-07-25 17:22:20 A reporter from Hong Kong allegedly kicked a police officer on duty in Beijing Friday, according to a Beijing.org .cn report. From 10:30 am Friday, July 25, Beijing police imposed temporary security measures around the Olympic ticket office at Beitucheng W Road in Chaoyang district, where hundreds of people queued to buy the last batch of Olympic tickets. A reporter from the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post, with the surname of Wang, was asked to leave by a police officer on duty when he entered the barricades to take pictures. Wang, however, disregarded the admonition and went further by kicking officer Zhang in the groin. The reporter was subsequently taken away by police for investigation, and the attacked policeman was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. During the investigation, Wang admitted his disobeyance of the policeman's admonition and his attack on the policeman by kicking. So far, the investigation is still under way. http://www.youtube.com/watch... In the US, this is what you get for flipping off a police. Kicking a police? You'll be fortunate not have bullet holes all over your body. |
