'Turnbull threatens to dump rebels'

MALCOLM TURNBULL will enforce a rule to sack from the frontbench anyone who dissents from party policy as he hits back at a renewed assault on his leadership caused by the emissions trading scheme.
Should he survive the week, his supporters are urging him to reshuffle his frontbench next month and reward those who have stood by him.
With the Coalition badly torn, the rebels are unfazed and claim the divisions are so bad Mr Turnbull's leadership will be untenable by the end of next week, whether he deals with Labor or not.
Supporters of the Senate leader, Nick Minchin, warned that Mr Turnbull could become ''collateral damage'' if he pushed the party to accept a deal.''This is a policy issue. Turnbull is not the target here, but if he has to go he has to go,'' said a rebel.
The conservatives are nominating Tony Abbott as a possible replacement, while Kevin Andrews has begun trailing his coat.
Mr Abbott, who once supported passing the scheme to get it off the agenda, is now arguing that supporting it is not worth the division it will cause. This has raised suspicions of Mr Abbott positioning himself for the leadership.
the rebels warn the split would be so big his leadership would be undermined.''If he gets it through and 20 senators cross the floor, can he survive? I doubt it,'' said one Liberal.
Senator Minchin said he was not targeting Mr Turnbull.

''This has never been about the leadership for me. This has been about the issue,'' he said.

On Thursday Senator Minchin used his Senate speech to rail against Labor's scheme. In a deliberate exercise, 12 Liberals and all five Nationals sat in the chamber in support. Three more Liberals were unable to make it.

I thought this was a democratic Country. I think it is a disgrace that The prime Minister is going to try and ram this ETS through without senators having time to read the facts and konow what they are voting for.I especially urge the Coalition to reject this legislation for the time being untill it is thought through properly.
I urge all senators to vote against anything they do not understand or agree with. Just remember their families their Children and their Grand children when they vote.
They will be held acountable for their actions if this piece of leglislation is passed.

Australia is not a Democracy, it is all an illusion. We have been living in a Socialist Dictatorship since the 1970's. So glad you are waking up to this now.
Spread the word, explain the Treaty and the Lies and Fraud of both Rudd and Turnbull.
Maybe it is time Australia had a political Revolution, I for one will be voting Nationals, though we need more choice.

ps; Remember that little party called 'The Democrats'! What do you think happened to them? Did you really believe we are a Democratic nation! Just look at what has happened to the UK, Canada and USA, we are all on the same path.

The socialism we enjoyed in the 70s at least meant that education and health were free and housing was still affordable. What we are now headed for is fascism run by corporations.

Did you know that some member of the Greens are planning to cross the floor on this legislation too? This is because the Greens did not invent the idea of global warming as some devious plot to control the nation (or they would actually be the ones in power).

The Labor and Liberal parties have taken the idea, which they could no longer ignore, and they have concocted a supposed solution which is designed merely to suit their own ends and do nothing to counter carbon emmission nor reduce pollution nor address the eventual complete depletion of fossil fuel reserves.

I hope Labor and the Greens cross the floor and stop this madness - its a bipartisan issue
