Former Wallabies coach Eddie Jones blasts ARU over Lote Tuqiri sacking | The Courier-Mail

Full story: www.news.com.au

FORMER Wallaby coach Eddie Jones attacked rugby union's handling of the Lote Tuqiri dumping as "spiteful" for leaving him in club-less limbo. Australian Rugby Union chief executive John O'Neill shut down one line of speculation when he said the police were not involved in the decision to cut loose the code's $900,000-plus-a-year star. O'Neill said he had "no problem" with the Tuqiri camp revealing the reason for the sacking but the call was with them. Tuqiri and his legal team have declined the offer. Jones said rugby's split with the dreadlocked powerhouse was "very undignified". "You don't like to see people terminated like that. It's quite sad that Lote is left without a club for a period because of registration deadlines in the NRL and French rugby," Jones said from Japan. "The worst thing is that the decision was done in spite with no thought about his welfare. Lote has been good for Australian sport. If he's not playing rugby, as a sports fan, I'd like to see him playing league." Asked if his spite gibe was directed at O'Neill, Jones said: "I won't say that but John O'Neill's previous feelings about Lote are on public record."

the ARU are making a TERRIBLE mistake here.
The new young backs might have fresh legs, and can score a try, but they are not a patch on Lote Tuqiri who is a first class all rounder on the wing as he can score AND prevent trys.

Last year Lote turned down a BIG contract to return to the other code, and I think he had some Euro Union offers as well. He turned these down to fully committ to the Wallabies to lead into the World Cup in NZ in 2011. As did Matt Gitto.

The ARU and Deans are about to sh*t in their own nest. Tuqiri is a role model player and the team and the fans are not happy.

Deans is turning all 'nazi' on the squad. Last week O'Conner and I think Cooper were fined and mighterly told off for a food fight in their hotel room which messed up the carpet... Deans' comment was that he would not hold it against them as long as something like this never happened again! wtf...it is not like they are throwing girls around the hotel room. O'Conner is only bloody 18 years old, give the kid a break!

In fact as I write, it has come to me. This could actually be an NZ plot to help NZ win the world cup; Deans is a kiwi through and through.
