72 hours for hundreds if not thousands of unknown and anonymous militiamen to surrender. That is one day more than Bush gave Saddam. What a riot.

Isn't he just telling them that at the end of the next 3 days they must blend back into society until the next wave?

The only real solution to start dismantling this organization is to take out Shiite Muslim cleric Moqtada al-Sadr but no one is willing to do that.

I guess they don't want to risk destabilizing the situation.

Clearly, the appeasement policy toward the Iranian evil regime failed 'big time'. The Iranian regime is preparing for the elections in US with new wave of sectarian wars against US troops that will make President Bush look worse than ever before. Is PM Maliki giving ultimatum to Iranian regime sponsored Islamic terrorist…??? It is obviously ridicules to try to fight the Iranian regime sponsored Mehdi Army with bunch of worthless ultimatums…
obviously, the inaptness of Iraqi and US troops to deal with the Iranian regime ruled Islamic terrorists of the Mehdi Army and of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Iraq is an outrage and only explain why US policy in the Middle East is failing and falling apart under Bush and Rice.
During five years in Iraq, US troops were not allowed by President Bush to retaliate against the Iranian Islamic terrorist proxy missile, mortar attacks and roadside bombings, which explains Bush's failure to make progress in Iraq.
President Bush is ‘locked’ in his surrender to the Iranian regime of Ahmadinajad that sabotage any progress in the stabilization in Iraq and in preventing chaos and sectarian war in Iraq and in peace efforts in Lebanon, Gaza, and West Bank.
With Bush’s lame duck weakness and inaptness to deal with the Iranian regime and his commanded Islamic terrorists, US troops are in greater danger because they are not allowed to retaliate after Iranian Islamic terrorists attacks that kill our brave US troops.
In addition, US troops can shoot only al Qaida Islamic terrorists and only after making sure that they are not Iranian Islamic terrorists, which tie the hands of our US troops behind their backs and prevent any progress in Iraq during the recent five years.
The bottom line is that with Bush's failure to deal with Iranian regime sponsored Islamic terrorists and without retaliation to Iranian attacks on US and Iraqi troops, US troops will not be able to win the war in Iraq during the next 10 years and will eventually ‘cut and run’ as losers without any achievement that they accomplished during five years.

72 hour ultimatum has already past or is about to, because this is already old news...

The fighting has began on Easter and is raging across Iraq, mostly around very important oil center of Basra. You must know that one who controls Basra is a very important player in Iraq.

How important is Moqtada (do you remember from Sadamms hanging Moqtada, Moqtada, Moqtada.... they chanted) and his Mahdi army we will soon see. If I am correct his army is somewhat similar to Irans Revolutionary Gard. Poor people indoctrinated through religion-a lethal combination and could be that he has hundreds of thousands, maybe a million or two of followers. That means a very bad moment for US and Iraq.

We could soon see a rise of Islamic Republic of Iraq. And US will have to take its share of responsibility for that.

Nothing to get worked up over. The Arabs are just being Arabs. The winner takes all, no matter what level of bloodshed is necessary.

You have 160.000 soldiers in there and could be hot for them. From Easter on Green zone in Bagdad is under constant attack from mortars and light artillery.

The word from the White House is that this is a sign of the surge's success because Iraqi forces are returning fire rather than US troops. Sounds to me more like what used to be called civil war. God spare our troops; it's not worth their bloodshed.

Good for you in Slovenia with your black coats to support the Iranian evil radical Islamic regime of Ahmadinajad and the Islamic terrorists Mehdi Army of A-Sadr that will bring you the Islamic ‘Masaya’ that you are waiting for soon.
It is time for you to join the Islamic terrorists suicide bombers of The Mehdi Army that will assure you 72 girls in Islamic Hell where you can keep your black coats, together with your admired the evil and ugly Ahmadinajad,

It's quite revealing watching this current round of fighting on BBC as opposed to CNN or Fox. The rebels are making monkeys out of the Iraqi 'army'.

Lies Jones, all lies... If you read my posts more carefully you would see I am against the religious radicalization of Iraq. I just wrote what is going on so you get a clear picture of the situation and in what mess US got itself and Iraq into.

Also the Shia are not fighting through suicide bombers. The Sunnis are.

And another thing. I do not like the situation in Iran as a religious state, but I respect them. And it would be the most stupid decision, if USA went into Iran so destroying another country, recking their life, killing thousands and thousands, destroying their economy and so on.

BTW in my eyes you already lost the war, lost the respect of your allies and enemies long time ago, now we are talking only about how much will everybody pay for the mess you made.

The Iraq army is full of Moqtada al Sadr's supporters. Mahdi army in Basra already has armored vehicles, all the weapons, they are driving around in Humwees and it would be nice to know where is all the weapons which were 'lost'.

Sadr should have been eliminated when we had the chance - just like Osama. What a waste this will turn into.

Or he'll do what.

The Iraqi guerrilla and civil wars are not going be over anytime soon. This is just some kind of way to bring Iran into this and try to start a war there for their gas and oil.

These two losing wars of invasion under the guise of seeking terrorists is a ruse for a wider more sinister plot to change our world into something else. I've said this so much I'm too tired to go into it yet again. But I hope it prompts people to start thinking about things.

Why? so that.....? the USA can impose another stooge? The Americans should just get the hell out or perhaps you'd prefer if they came over and set up torture prisons in the USA a la Abu Graib.
