Tottenham Hotspur were probably deserving of the three points against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in their Premier League clash on Saturday. Younes Kaboul has been handed the Tottenham captaincy full-time

The Frenchman has led the side on several occasions this season and has now been chosen by manager Mauricio Pochettino as the permanent successor to fellow central defender Michael Dawson, who joined Hull last month. A post on the club's official Twitter feed read: " Mauricio has announced that Younes Kaboul has been named our new Club captain with Hugo Lloris and Emmanuel Adebayor as vice-captains."

CONFIRMED: Younes Kaboul named Tottenham's new captain

Despite an impressive debut season he was farmed out to Portsmouth in 2008, where he spent two seasons before rejoining Spurs in 2010. In his first interview since his appointment as Michael Dawson's replacement, Kaboul expressed his delight at being named the club's new captain - and revealed that it was an honour to be handed the armband.
