Spain's government has unveiled a plan to help families struggling to make their mortgage payments and reward businesses that hire new workers amid the financial crisis.
Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has announced the plan at a news conference Monday.
The measures will allow unemployed workers to postpone part of their mortgage payments, with a limit of 500 euros ($640) a month, for up to two years. Zapatero says the government will serve as a guarantor of those delayed payments.
