Ports chief knew ferry was a danger
The former head of the Tongan Navy has admitted he did not act even though he knew the ferry Princess Ashika was "dangerous and unseaworthy". Commander Lupeti Vi, 60, now chief executive of the Ports Authority of Tonga, told a Royal Commission of Inquiry yesterday he had opportunities to buy the ship but believed it was dangerous and unseaworthy.
