    Jordanian officials have backtracked on a decision they made last week to ban popular Lebanese rock band Mashrou Leila from performing in Amman's Roman amphitheater. Mashrou Leila received a written notice from Jordan's Ministry of Tourism mere days before their scheduled performance, stating that their concert would have been at odds with the "authenticity" of the venue, the band said in a widely shared Facebook post on April 26. "We also have been unofficially informed that we will never be allowed to play again anywhere in Jordan due to our political and religious beliefs and endorsement of gender equality and sexual freedom," Mashrou Leila said in the statement .
