    A pastor has been arrested by the Police in Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region for allegedly defiling two sisters and impregnating one of them. Atta Alhassan, 35, according to the Divisional Police Commander, promised to help one of the sisters who is 15 years to abort a pregnancy through prayers.

    Bolgatanga, Aug. 20, GNA - The Republic of Burkina Faso will on Saturday spill the Bagre Dam which is likely to affect some communities in the Upper East, Upper West, Northern Region and some parts of the Brong Ahafo and Volta Regions. A press release issued by Ms Lucy Perbi Nyarko, the Area Manager of the Volta River Authority , called on communities along the white and Black Volta Rivers to move to higher grounds to avoid being affected by the spillage.

    Bawku Aug. 21, GNA - Professor Paul Buah-Bassuah of the University of Cape Coast and Chairman for the Public Interest and Accountability Committee , has called on government to invest into other sectors as the revenues from oil alone cannot sustain the country's economy. He said the country receives only five percent of the royalty interest from the oil revenues and out of that, 70 per cent goes to the Annual Budget Fund Amount , while 30 percent goes to Ghana Petroleum Fund , and that 30 per cent is then divided into two parts and 70 percent is given to the Ghana Stabilization Fund while 30 percent is sent to the Ghana Heritage Fund.

    Latest figures released by the Ghana Statistical Service have indicated that the rate of inflation for locally-produced goods was 2.1 percent higher than inflation for imported items. Dr Philomena Nyarko, Government Statistician, who disclosed this to the media yesterday in Accra during the announcement of the Consumer Price Index for July, this year, said the inflation rate for locally-produced items was 17.3 percent in July compared to 18.9 percent recorded in June while the inflation rate for imported items was 15.2 percent in July, compared to 17.1 percent recorded in June.
