Known as the "conscience of the Labor party" because of his principled stands on issues, Mr Uren was a leading figure in the Left faction, and one of the most respected Labor politicians of his generation. Such accolades! It's true he gave honest service during WW2 and did a lot for ex PWs during his lifetime.
