    A whole bunch of punk, new wave, indie/alt rock artists have come together to pay tribute to beloved radio personality and novelty music guru Dr. Demento on a new two-disc tribute titled Covered in Punk . Artists such as Nobunny, Joan Jett, The Dead Milkmen, Colleen Green, The Meatmen, Shonen Knife, The Vandals, Fred Schneider, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, Los Straitjackets, Misfits , and more have covered classic songs that were staples of Dr Demento's radio show and there are also some of Dr. Demento's friends covering punk songs, like William Shatner doing The Cramps' "Garbageman," "Weird Al" Yankovic doing "Beat on the Brat" and The Best Show's Philly Boy Roy doing "Punk Rock Girl."

    Early next year, Dr. Demento, the longtime king of novelty-song radio, will release a new collection called Covered In Punk , a two-hour quasi-compilation that includes big stars doing punk covers of novelty songs and novelty covers of punk songs. The set features people like "Weird Al" Yankovic, Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, the Misfits, the B-52's frontman Fred Schneider, Colleen Green, Shonen Knife, the Vandals, Nobunny, the Meatmen, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, James Kolchaka Superstar, and the late TV Batman Adam West.
