For The Choice, inspired by Nicholas Sparks , only $6.1 million of tickets were sold - the LOWEST wide opening in Sparks' entire career, too! Kung Fu Panda 3 and The Revenant did well domestically and globally, but obviously those movies aren't exactly new releases.
