Being a part of Crytek's Virtual First Program, the center will serve as a technology base for VR developers and entrepreneurs with innovative ideas, according to a written statement by the university on Jan. 19. The global launch of the program was also made in Istanbul, said the statement.

The project has lingered for years due to a number of obstacles such as former publisher THQ's bankruptcy , as well as previous money problems at its second owner Crytek. Its latest proprietor, Koch Media, declined to comment on the leak, aside from stating that Homefront: The Revolution is scheduled to ship "Spring 2016."
