    Men from Falmouth, Penryn and Helston who endured the "worst journey in the world" on convoys bringing supplies to a beleagured Russia during World War Two has been recognised by Russia. Reginald Alfred Hawkins from Falmouth, Harold Hallett Thompson from Penryn, Reginald Hunt and Robert Kenneth John Miller from Helston and Edward George Watts from Perranwell were among forty two men from Cornwall honoured for their part in the WWII Arctic Convoys.

At Truro Magistrates' Court Peter Mark Blackburn, aged 28, of Greenwith Crescent, Greenwith Road, Perranwell Station, pleaded guilty to drink driving.

    When will our planners, Councillors, elected representatives and Cornwall Council planning officers stop the rot and stupidity of the current 'Wild West-style' development going on in and around Truro? When will large out-of-town developers and big business, e.g. Duchy of Cornwall , Waitrose, Tesco, Wain Homes, Persimmon Homes, etc. stop controlling local planning decisions? It is sheer madness that in a small market town, which nonetheless has growing affordable and social housing needs, that we keep building massive and totally unsustainable housing projects that not only fail to meet these local needs , but pander to much higher income groups, generally from outside the Duchy.

    A Budock Water builder was caught as a drink driver after police stopped his van because he was not wearing a seat belt, and then realised he was drunk. At Truro Magistrates' Court Adam Edward Burnard, aged 43, of Watersmead Parc, Budock Water, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Falmouth on October 3 when he tested at 67 mcg, nearly twice the legal limit.

Help was requested and an appliance from Perranporth and the water carrier from Helston were drafted in to assist tackle the flames at the fire in the barn measuring approximately ten metres by six metres containing hay and farm machinery.
