And now it's one of five places bidding to be the UK's City of Culture in 2021, after Derry/Londonderry in 2013 and this year's holder of the title, Hull.

    These are some of the people for whom Mumbles is their home, not just a nice place for a walk and something to eat Sometimes when you mention Swansea to a passing acquaintance from another part of the world, they frown, not entirely sure if they know where you mean. It may only be a little old fishing village at the western tip of the spectacular Swansea Bay, but Mumbles packs a punch when it comes to being a familiar place to many people around the world.
