Members at this week's meeting of the full council supported a motion put forward by Jim McKenna, the councillor for Penzance Promenade, and seconded by Malcolm Brown, the councillor for St Austell Bethel, formally requesting the company suspend the proposed franchise programme in Cornwall, pending the development of a fully costed evaluation of alternative options working with local representatives, prior to any final decision being taken.

    The Plymouth and Cornwall Wing of the RAF Air Cadets gathered en masse in Falmouth on Sunday to celebrate the founding of the Air Training Corps 75 years ago. Cadets from 1157 Squadron, 3 Sqn, 77 Sqn, 1900 Sqn and 147 Sqn joined 350 air cadets and volunteer staff who had travelled from Plymouth, the South Hams, west Devon and all across Cornwall at the 75th Anniversary Parade which was followed by a service at the Church of King Charles the Martyr.
