    Chief pilot Martin Scott, 48, was killed in rural South Australia alongside trainee pilot Paul Daw, 65, and Australian civil aviation safety authority inspector Stephen Guerin, 56. It was reported that the nine-seater Cessna Conquest made an emergency distress call shortly after take-off from an aerodrome at Renmark, east of Adelaide. The three men were on a training exercise with charter company Rossair, which is based in Adelaide.

    The firm, which is located near Bodmin in Cornwall, confirmed earlier today that its Darnibole vineyard has secured Protected Designated Origin from the European Union. The move, which comes five years after the UK Government gave the site national protection, makes it the first UK single vineyard to be awarded the status.

    Fire crews were called to the scene of a crash in St Austell late yesterday evening, after a person was trapped in their car after it apparently hit a lamppost and flipped over. Two fire engines, one from Bodmin and St Austell, were sent to the scene of the accident near McDonalds on Trevanion Road, St Austell at around 11.30pm.
