    Sefton Council, in partnership with Active Soccer Maghull and the Friends of Groups Parks, is eager to get even more over 50s back the hollowed turf with launch of the two new walking football sessions as it celebrates a year since the launch of the event in Coronation Park in Crosby. The rules are the same but all players walk and it is a non-contact sport, meaning no potential Terry Butcher bandage moments! The event has been so successful in Coronation Park that the team now has its own kit and is called Crosby Veterans Walking Football Club.

    Staff and customers at Sainsbury's in Southport have waved a tearful farewell to Nicky Plaistow - who enjoyed her last day at the Lord Street supermarket yesterday after 27 years. Nicky was the community champion at the store on St George's Place, just off Lord Street, and led campaigns to help a huge number of local charities and other good causes over the years.

    Join us on the this whole days Sunday ride from either start of Hamilton Square station, Birkenhead and get the train over to James Street station to meet the group at the Pier Head Ferry terminal for a 9.00am start. Our route then will take us along the Liverpool/Leeds Canal to Formby and along to Ainsdale arriving about 11am for a coffee and meet the rest of the group.

Terry Durrance has highlighted a number of issues recently where he says he saw an elderly man knocked over on a train, passengers jostled on an escalator and people unable to sit down because of a bike in the way.
