Larson's son told The Hollywood Reporter that he died of esophageal cancer at UCLA Medical Center. Larson's incredibly fruitful television career came after a stint in the 1950s pop group the Four Preps.

Larson was 77. Born January 3, 1937 in Long Beach, CA, Larson cut his teeth in showbiz as a member of The Four Preps vocal group in 1956 which churned out three gold records for Capitol.
