    TUCSON, AZ - Ecologists from the Sonoran Institute and officials from Pima County say the aquatic habitat of the lower Santa Cruz River has seen a remarkable improvement thanks to a new water reclamation facility and expansion of another. According to a news release from Pima County, the 2016 "Living River" report by the Sonoran Institute, Pima County Wastewater Management and the county Regional Flood Control District finds improved water quality and clarity, three new fish species and the expanding range of existing fish species can all be attributed to the construction of the Agua Nueva Water Reclamation Facility near W. El Camino del Cerro and the expansion of the Tres Rios plant near W. Ina Road and I-10.

    MARANA, AZ - Crews with Northwest Fire District responded to a near drowning in the 5700 block of West Cortaro Crossing Drive around 4:12 p.m. Tuesday, July 12. According to a NWFD release, a 16-month-old boy had been found in an above ground pool by his parents. Both are trained in CPR and were able to initiate first aid after he was pulled from the pool.

While full closures don't move into place until January of 2017, drivers should anticipate occasional delays on Ina Road, parts of I-10 and on the frontage road starting Wednesday night, July 13. The early work will develop as follows: Overnight utility work will narrow eastbound I-10 to one lane from Cortaro Road to Ina Road between 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, and 5 a.m. Thursday, July 14. The eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Ina will be closed during this time.
