    Maha Sarakham province has recently declared rabies outbreaks in Wapi Pathum district, after detecting the virus in a dog and a buffalo calf. Chatchawan Prasert of the Provincial Livestock Department revealed that on April 11, villagers in Hua Ruea subdistrict reported that a feral dog had bitten 14 dogs and five villagers.

    Poj Sichanuklit of the ChonA buri Livestock Department, his Sriracha office counterpart Wanchana Thongyen and Lertchai Jinpitaksakul, director of the Eastern Veterinary Research and Development Center, visited the Nongkham Sub-district home of Jamlong Sasrong April 26. After an initial inspection, the animal experts said they did not believe the duck deaths were caused by bird flu, but, instead, by food poisoning. Jamlong said that instead of bird seed or animal feed, he fed his ducks leftover food donated by local restaurants and mixed that with rice.
