Playing her second three-set singles of the day, the 25-year-old Briton was beaten 3-6, 7-6 , 6-4 by top seed and eventual winner Christina McHale of the United States, who is world-ranked 63. Earlier in the tournament, the third-seeded Stockport woman had defeated Lyudmyla Kichenok 7-6 , 6-4; qualifier and AEGON Ilkley Trophy runner-up Madga Linette 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 and Jacqueline Cako 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 before losing to McHale.
