    There were many good things happening in Vicksburg this week, two of which included the inaugural "Supper on the 'Sip" that benefited the United Way of West Central Mississippi and the ninth annual Bricks and Spokes. On Saturday, an estimated 250 riders participated in the cycling event that included either a 10-, 13-, 30-, 50- or 62-mile course with the 30-, 50- and 62-mile courses going through the Vicksburg National Military Park.

    Part of that impression came as I visited the Vicksburg National Military Park Saturday and Monday to cover the living history events as part of the park's commemoration of the 155th anniversary of the siege of Vicksburg - the program at the Shirley House, the displays by the Texas Camel Corps and the 1st Mississippi Cavalry and the live fire cannon demonstration. The park's parking lot was full and there was a line to enter and tour the park.
