    In 1898, the 11.5-foot-long cannon, then a mere 100 years old, guarded a Spanish fort in Santiago, Cuba, its bronze turret aimed at American soldiers, including some from Worcester. Tuesday, the nearly 220-year-old relic of the Spanish-American War was painstakingly set down at the Army National Guard 181st Infantry Regiment headquarters, marking a return to Worcester after a seven-year hiatus.
