    Blake Bortles , the Jaguars ' 2014 first-round pick, had his most consistent season in 2017 and in February the team rewarded him with a three-year, $54 million contract extension that will keep him in Jacksonville through 2020. But for as well as Bortles played, there were still holes in his game; he completed a career-best 60.2 percent of his passes for 3,687 yards to go along with 21 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, but he was no better than replacement level, according to Football Outsiders' metrics .

I immediately got started with the trade, finding a partner in the Jacksonville Jaguars, trading out of spot 20 in the first round for Jacksonville's 29th overall pick, their second-round pick , as well as a third rounder , but the trade came at quite a cost, as both highly coveted edge defender Harold laundry and DT Da'Ron Payne were still on the board and were both selected before our first pick .
