    Cleveland State was a 14-seed entering the NCAA tournament, and met third-seeded Indiana in the first round at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. The Vikings prevailed 83-79, then beat sixth-seeded St. Joseph's in the second round to reach the Sweet 16. Indiana won the national title the following year. Indiana was victimized for the second time in three years and a year after winning the NCAA title.
