Four-time IndyCar champion Bourdais suffered hip and pelvic fractures after a high-speed crash at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 20. On August 16, IndyCar medical director Geoffrey Billows said the 38-year-old was fit to return to racing, and his team announced on Wednesday that he would tackle the weekend's race at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois.
