    After hearing not only about the tragic shootings Sunday, but also about the criminal background of Fort Drum soldier Justin Walters -- the alleged shooter of both his wife and a New York state trooper -- different people had one common question: How did a man with six felony and three misdemeanor convictions by the age of 18, including the creation of a kill list in middle school, get accepted into the Army? To apply to the military, the Army Recruitment Command has a long list of things that will disqualify you early on. You must also self-report any convictions or face felonies for each one you don't.
