Kaumi Kobayashi and Mike Conway claimed pole position the first since the Shanghai race in November 2014 with a one minute 37.304 second average to end up nearly three tenths clear of team-mates Kazuki Nakajima and Anthony Davidson in the sister Toyota TS050 Hybrid .
