    Trustees on the Mecklenburg County School Board named Dr. Janet C. Crawley as part-time temporary interim Superintendent of Schools at a special meeting Thursday night, June 25. Crawley, who takes Authorities are still awaiting preliminary autopsy results after the unexpected death of rising Bluestone High School senior Erik A. Smith, a standout on the football, baseball and track teams who was known and beloved by his friends as "Dai Dai." Smith died at his home on Tuesday, June 23. Rescue personnel who were summoned to his home were unable to rouse the 17-year-old from his morning sleep.
