    Slow Food Solano has awarded a record $7,580 to support 28 school gardens in Solano County, including nine in Vacaville. In its 10 year of giving for school gardens, the nonprofit group recently issued garden grants of $300 on average, which will allow teachers to buy seeds, plants, irrigation materials, shovels, gloves and other needed materials and supplies, Carla Elvidge, grant coordinator for the Solano chapter of the worldwide group, said in a press release.
