In the three months to 30 June, group sales were up 17 percent at 3.5 billion euros, while core volumes were down by over 1 percent, the company announced July 25. Higher utilization rates and "robust demand" also helped the Leverkusen, Germany-based company to increase earnings by 56.5 percent to 848 million euros in the second quarter.
