Doss was shot in the head while responding to a domestic dispute involving Brooks about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24. He survived several days and died on Sunday, Jan. 28. Detroit Police Chief James Craig said Brooks, after shooting Doss, fired more shots at Detroit police responding to the scene as he barricaded himself in a home on 5500 block of McDougal.
