    A local man was arrested Thursday and charged in connection with the trafficking of heroin mixed with fentanyl in York County, according to the Maine State Police. Brian Vance, 27, of Sanford is facing three counts each of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and aggravated trafficking in heroin while armed with a firearm, all Class A crimes, Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said Friday in a news release.

    According to York County Sheriff William King, Deputy Bob Carr attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Back Road in Shapleigh on Aug. 19 at approximately 2:30 p.m. The driver, Jeffrey Fournier, 48, of Sanford, reportedly sped away from the deputy, however, and headed toward Route 109. "Fournier continued to flee and led sheriff's deputies and officers from Sanford and North Berwick on a 20-mile chase that lasted about 15 minutes through Shapleigh into Sanford and in the town of Lebanon," King explained in a news release on Friday evening.
