    Taxpayers may be able to save some money on landfill maintenance after the Wexford County Board of Commissioners approved a proposal to amend the Remedial Action Plan addressing landfill groundwater contamination in Cedar Creek Township. The board approved amending the county's contract with environmental consulting group Pescador LLC to include operation and maintenance of several wells, evaluation of a water cleaning system, removing duplicate monitoring wells and oversight of landfill waste relocation.

    According to the Manton Fire Department, crews battled the fire from 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to around 4 a.m. The fire then rekindled Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m. Firefighters believe the fire fell into the basement which started the fire for the second time. "The problem with this one is the whole fire went into the basement so there's no way of digging it out and it burns underneath so there's a lot of time it will rekindle in a case like that," said Captain Ray Wilkins, Manton Fire Department.
