Representatives from seven foundations made appearances at the Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce meeting to receive their funding, intended to lend aid to county residents not profiting from the oil and natural gas businesses.

    The state of West Virginia has switched over to a dedicated computer system to record the purchases of hunting and fishing licenses, and the counties were among those in the state opting out of the license business. Wetzel County Clerk Carol Haught said the state Division of Natural Resources was going to provide the needed computer equipment to counties continuing to sell the licenses, but the counties would have incurred the cost of connecting that computer's software to their own system.
