    According to police reports, Seymour's Jamie Hance is convinced a 2004 Chevrolet Trail Blazer he bought for $200 is legal vehicle. Police Chief Ron Wright and Officer Josh Mullens of the Seymour Police Department weren't so convinced after Mullens discovered the sport-utility vehicle last Wednesday at an apartment complex on West Ventura Drive, located at the city's southern edge off Highway K. As a result, Hance was arrested and taken to the Webster County Jail in Marshfield on suspected first-degree felony tampering.

    Emerick, 41, who lives in rural Seymour, allegedly was fishing in a creek on private property around 8:20 p.m. on Friday, June 30, when Officer Tyler Smith of the Seymour Police Department received a call, which also drew the response of a pair of Webster County Sheriff's Department deputies and Webster County's Missouri Department of Conservation agent. Before the deputies or the MDC agent could arrive at the location on Harmony Road southwest of Seymour, Smith was told Emerick, who had two active warrants, had entered his car and left the creek site.

Debi Reece, supervisor of the Webster County OACAC Neighborhood Center, said last Thursday that a local board composed of public officials, representatives from emergency-service providers and other social-service organizations soon will determine how the funds awarded by FEMA to the county will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter program providers in the area.
