    Some changes may be coming to Iowa's voting laws, requiring absentee ballots be received by the county auditor's office before polls close on Election Day. Wapello County Auditor Kelly Spurgeon says her office would welcome the new law, saying it would help reduce confusion because some absentee ballots received in the mail are not postmarked properly.

    Despite objections from the Wapello County Supervisors, the Ottumwa City Council approved a resolution on Tuesday night that sets the wheels in motion for improvements at Ottumwa Regional Airport. The resolution removed the sunset date of the tax increment finance designation, or TIF, for the airport, and that is where the county's main objection was centered.
