Corey Lee Halcomb, 27, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle east on 19th Street just before 8 p.m. Friday when he crossed the centerline and struck a mailbox, gas meter, power pole and a tree, according to the report.

    The 311-student Strong-Huttig School District in Union County on Thursday became the first district in the state to receive a reprieve from an Arkansas law requiring a minimum 350-student enrollment to exist. The Arkansas Board of Education voted unanimously for the waiver to the district, relying on Act 377 of 2015, which allows the board to relax the minimum requirement set by Act 60. Act 60 was passed in a partial response to a state Supreme Court decision finding the state public education system was inadequate and inequitable and, as a result, unconstitutional.
