    Joseph Christopher Spota, 29, has been charged with first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping after he turned himself in to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office around 4 p.m. The student told police she was walking in the 800 block of Magnolia Drive Sunday around 3:15 a.m. when a white male in a white vehicle approached her, according to an advisory from the UA Police Department. The victim said the man said he was part of a church organization giving sober rides for people in need of a ride.
