    Red Bluff >> For the second straight month, spurred by a loss of farm and government jobs, Tehama County's unemployment raise was on the rise after setting a post-recession record low in October. Figures released Friday by the Employment Development Department estimated the county's unemployment rate at 8.8 percent for December 2014, slightly above the November 2014 revised figure of 8.6 percent, but below the 10.1 unemployment in December 2013.

    Red Bluff >> Tehama County received straight Fs from the American Lung Association in its annual report grading cities and counties on whether they have put into place tobacco control policies. The ALA said in a press release the grades are based on “whether laws are adequately protecting citizens from the enormous toll tobacco use takes on lives and the economy.” Only the city of Red Bluff received any points for its tobacco control grade, picking up recognition for the banning of smoking in certain recreation areas.
